Okay, so my question is: These characters that Marvel is "replacing" with new versions of the originals, are the originals disappearing? Or are they still being actively used in other books? And I mean, Thor, Captain America (Steve Rogers), The Hulk, etc. Or did they just fall off into Never-To-See-From-Again Land? Most of them are still around, Steve Rogers is in Uncanny Avengers for instance. Bruce Banner will have a major role in Pak/Cho's current Hulk series. I think the only one currently dead and replaced is Wolverine. |

Nope, I think this will be another Street of Poison/Spider-Man No More/whatever else. A story with a beginning, middle and end. I think Steve will become Captain America again at one point or another (I'm trying really hard to think of a character which has been permanently replaced by another and can only come up with very obscure ones. Even GL and Flash were the most popular ones are not the originals, have the originals still running around). 2. Duggan is writing UA, I think Quicksilver is in it, but not sure. Well, in the current Marvel U, there are multiple variants of the same character running around (5 or 6 Spider-Man variants of Peter Parker, for example), so I don't necessarily see a problem with having 2 variants of the same identity who are different people (there's about 12 Spider-Women, all different people, plus another 2 or 3 Spider-Men who are not Peter Parker), though Captain America is such an icon that I don't know that it makes sense in-Universe for there to be two of them.
Whether all the multiple simultaneous different instances of characters is a good idea, well that's a whole different question.

At least it's not as bad as the 90s where you couldn't have multiple characters with the same name running around, leading to things like "Kid Nova" (until they could kill off Galactus' herald) and the tag team that Adam Warlock/The Magus did with the New Mutants Warlock/Magus.
