A new game for us to play, similar to the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game that some of you may know.
We begin with two comic book creators that have little to do with one another. A poster needs to figure out how they are connected to one another via people they have worked with in the industry, and the challenge is to get from one creator to the other using as few go-betweens as possible.
Example:
Dave Sim to Frank Miller
Degree #1: Dave Sim worked worked with Peter Laird on the story for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8.
Degree #2: Peter Laird wrote a back-up story for Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo #10.
Degree #3: Stan Sakai and Frank Miller both contributed to Usagi Yojimbo's 200th Anniversary Issue.
The less degrees you can do it in, the better. Six is the maximum.
So I'll start the ball rolling with:
Walt Kelley to Jack Kirby
Whoever can make it work first gets to do the next one.

Step One: Walt Kelly had a Pogo story reprinted in issue #4 of Golden Age of Comics magazine in Sept. 1983, which also featured a promo ad pencilled by Jack Kirby.... GCD link for magazine issue-M will wait for confirmation before posting next group to link...

Its a bit of a cheat, but...
Jack Kirby's assistant was Mark Evanier...
Mark Evanier's significant other is Carolyn Kelly
Carolyn Kelly is Walt Kelly's daughter

But it's all just for fun anyway, so go ahead and propose the next one

I didn't know Frank Miller was involved in Batman/Spawn. I had a copy too I think, never read it.

And I think the Dave sim issue was actually #10, so not many degrees of separation! This was part of McFarlane's effort to improve his scripting skills by working with other writers. Gaiman's collaboration is the most well known due to the creation of Angela.

Alright next round...Neil Gaiman to Don McGregor. -M Both worked with P.Craig Russell! Russell collaborated with gaiman on "the murder mystery" (not one of Gaiman's best IMO ) Russell collaborated with don mcgregor on "amazing adventures" with Killraven...if we need to cite a specific issue lets go with 31, featuring comics 1st interracial kiss (although I don't think this is Russell's best work either.. Again, IMO ) Assuming I did not err, let's go with Sergio Aragones and John Byrne next... No idea if it will be easy or tough EDIT: whoops beaten to the punch!!

Next: Alfred Bester to Howard Chaykin Chaykin illustrated "the stars my destination", written by Bester. Great stuff! I think I first saw it in Heavy Metal. Next: René Goscinny (creator of Astérix) and John Buscema.
