So you're saying, you're not a fan of his Star Trek photonovels then?

So you're saying, you're not a fan of his Star Trek photonovels then? Actually I have said I'm not a fan. But how are the books done by Byrne?

The stories are okay, but I honestly would rather see him do the art himself, as he did on his Romulans books or the Dr. McCoy mini-series. The photonovels are just a bit off to me.

when he is good, he's VERY good. when he's not good?. . everything looks exactly the same, and the coloring gets very very muddy. but always will love his re-designed version of Scarlet Witch

I always thought John Byrne was overrated. Nothing he's done - that I have read - stood out as being anything special. (Sorry!)

I always thought John Byrne was overrated. Nothing he's done - that I have read - stood out as being anything special. (Sorry!) I liked his stuff in the seventies and early eighties, and I think his Fantastic Four was probably the best run since Stan and Jack's (and has not really been bettered since) but he started to go downhill after moving to DC and I haven't really liked anything he's done since Superman.

I think Byrne almost single-handedly defined what super-hero comics would look like in the late 80s early '90s, just as Neal Adams had done for the late 60s and 70s. (That Byrne's style evolved in large part from Adams is probably to be expected).

I've long thought that Byrne is his era's Adams.

I would have loved to see a Justice Society series or a Capt Marvel series by Byrne. The last title I read that he did was the Superman/Batman: Generations II mini series.
