Dr. Doom. Arguably, the best villain in comics history, so popular the he was used very early on in Spider-man #5 to fight someone other than the Fantastic Four. Which story involving him entertained you the most? Which story was unworthy of Doom?

I know it's total sacrilege, but I loved Doom's insanely unbridled lust for power in Secret Wars. When the God-like Beyonder shows up, most rational folks' instinct would be to cower or (if you're truly heroic) concoct a plan to fight back. Doom is just so thoroughly Doom in his first instinct being to steal that power. His greatest asset is truly his sheer audacity.

I voted for FF #57 to #60 (because it's a GREAT storyline!) but I could just as easily have voted for FF #23, Spidey #5 or the one where Luke Cage goes to Latveria and says "Where's my money, honey?!"
There are so many bad Dr. Doom stories. I'm trying to think of one that stands out as particularly bad. How about ... Spider-Man Annual #14? I re-read that a few years ago and so it's a little more fresh in my memory. It's not good.

There are so many good stories and I couldn't list them all but I have a particular love for the second Superman/Spider-man team up.

;Which story was unworthy of Doom ? Not a classic but the Matt Fraction FF story where Scott Lang single highhandedly gave Doom the smack down and there was a ridiculous council of Dooms from alternate Earths. The only parts of that run I remember not really caring for.

I remember disliking the Mark Waid Unthinkable story where he kills his childhood love for witchcraft purposes and places Reeds son in hell. I felt he lost all his nobility in that story.

I'll be iconclastic and say Iron Man 149-150.

I love Doom, he's one of my absolute favourite Marvel villains. I voted "other" because I think my all-time favourite Doom story is in Amazing Spider-Man #5. Honourable mention for Ed Brubaker's Books of Doom mini-series from 10 years or so back.

I also voted "Other." My pick would be Fantastic Four Annual #2, specifically the origin story that opens that splendid issue but including the main story that followed it. In the latter, Doom's entire scheme unravels because he can't resist the urge to torment himself by unmasking and looking at his ruined face in the mirror. My second choice would be Astonishing Tales #8, not only for the revelation that Doom battles Satan oce a year in a bid to free his mother's soul from Hell but for Gene Colan's delectable rendition of the armored a-hole.
Cei-U! I summon the lethal Lord of Latveria!

Growing up in the late '80s and early '90s, I'd always assumed that fact had first been added here: Looks like I need to get me a copy of Astonishing Tales #8!

Of those you listed, the Triumph & Torment OGN by Stern & Mignola with Doc Strange & Doom trying to rescue Doom's mother from hell would be my pick, and what I voted for, but my favorite Doom story of all from a pure nostalgia perspective was this one... which I read til it was dog-eared as a kid. Some of the issues I had as a kid were faves as well, including a couple SVTU issues, Astonishing Tales #2, Champions 16,but Avengers #25 (which I had reprinted in Marvel Triple Action) was the Doom story I have read the most during and since childhood. I didn't read a Doom vs. the FF story until well into adulthood, as I haver got many FF issues as a kid (most of my Doom vs. FF experience came form the various FF cartoons I saw. -M

Nice homage to the original Star Wars theatrical poster.
