as for 'best' that's difficult, as 'best story' might not be 'best art'. And we've all seen the reactions to Frank Robbin's work, which underscores this point. so for me, best Doom story, with very good art by Buckler (R.I.P.), is 'this'. Buckler didn't do this cover, of course. Another artist beloved by yours truly scribbled it.

Cei-U! I summon the day Flo Steinberg realized they weren't paying her enough! I jut wanna summon a way to go back to 1966 and give her gourmet chockies, a rare orchid, and a light kiss on the forehead, concluding with a 'thank you, lovely; these Tales couldn't happen without you, how can I get Stan to give you a raise?'. Stan tried; it was the big boss, Martin Goodman, who refused the pay raise for Flo. Here's Roy Thomas in an interview for Alter Ego: "Flo Steinberg quit in the late '60s because she couldn't get a $5 raise, because Goodman felt secretarial positions paid a certain salary and not a penny over that."

Looks like Sinnott inks. Maybe it overpowered Kanes pencils?

could be; romita often inked kane, over-powered him, but the result was still yummy.

I don't think that anything was better than Romita over Romita.

Another good doom storyis in avengers 156? the avengers face off against attuma and tyrak. submariner is in the mix. wonderman has returned from dead and Dr doom helps avengers fight attuma albeit for his own reasons. this story was epic with a big cast and many layers of plots. Yeah, that tied into Super-Villain Team-Up, a Dr. Doom-focused series for most of its run. You want Avengers #154-156, with Super-Villain Team-Up #9 fitting between 154 and 155. Great stuff.

I have all the parts of that storyline in my Avengers box. I remember picking up the SVTU part years later.

Best for me would be Terror in a Tiny Town, no question. But the wors? Tricky. There have been some truly awful Doom stories over the years...

Well you don't wanna see what they've done to him now.

Another of my favorite Doom stories was Amazing Spider-Man Annual #14, by Denny O'Neil and Frank Miller. A rare look at Doom's sorcerous side, as well as a team-up with a villain of the same stature and mutual respect between the two (as opposed to him merely using others as pawns.)

Well you don't wanna see what they've done to him now. You read my mind for I was just considering some kind of thread of this nature. I read the last few recent issues of Avengers by Waid and the Infamous Victor Von Doom guest-starred. And while Waid's writing was up to par, it dawned on me the huge injustice that Marvel is currently doing to the character. This is their greatest villain and look what's he doing right now. It's almost reprehensible. Thank goodness we have these classics to remind us and to relive the glory and the power! My choice was Son of Doom. One of my first FF comics and probably the one that introduced me to Doom. It wasn't until some years later that I was able to read the full story and wow, loved it for it's drama, action and tragedy. Other top choices would be This Land is Mine! and Triumph and Tragedy
Special mention also for Bryne's three-part Doom story from FF #258-260.

Does VIctor have a place in the 'top ten most rectconned characters of all time' yet? I thinks he's earned that place.
