I'll have something up after the 4th of July and it's will be an introduction - sort of speak and should have this done within 10 days or so. I'm taking a short break from it.

I'm going to take some time off from this thread due to this development that left me stunned, shocked, and in disbelief. I've don't know when this thread be back in running -- thanks for your patience.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this era of Green Lantern. I HATED that DC made Hal go crazy. It didn't fit the character. It didn't make sense for a character that has tremendous will power to have a nervous breakdown that causes him to become a villain. I did like how Hal sacrificed himself to reignite the sun in Final Night. On the other hand we did get Kyle who I came to like. I wished DC could have handled this another way if they wanted to sideline Hal for awhile.

For example they could have had the Guardians take a big chunk of the GLC with them to fight in an alternate universe leaving behind Ganthet to watch over a small group of Green Lanterns. And since Ganthet has a "soft spot" for Earth he recruits Kyle as a Green Lantern for Earth. That would have been better than Hal becoming a villain.

She got introduced in All Star Squadron #25 as a part of the Infinity, Inc Group that was an eye-opener experience for me and a blockbuster event in this series.





General Information about Jade; text below this picture is from a tumblr that I've discovered yesterday and I'm copying word for word for your own enjoyment. 





Who is she? Jennie-Lynn had just been your average girl, in raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with big dreams of being an actress, a famous one! She had a mother and father and everything was pretty dull, but she didn’t mind it that way. The only un-average thing was the strange green birthmark on her hand. It was odd, but she never payed much notice. But then— around her 18th birthday it had suddenly began to glow as she left the shower, turning her entire body green!! Through her confused tears, her parents explain how she was adopted and they don’t know who her ‘real’ parents are— Jenny still loved them regardless of course! She didn’t care! But she would like a little instruction in how and why she had such abilities, maybe if she did a little research… and then bam! A twin brother shows up in her life! Creeping in the shadows, literally, Todd Rice had entered her life and she’d never been happier! Powers, a brother, now just to find her father— who she was beginning to suspect was the original Green Lantern. Of course, the two showed up at the JSA Brownstone just as they were kicking out other kids of the famous group, denying them entry, and the two decided, why not? They left a very confused Alan Scott to ponder his apparently very light history of bedroom activity, completely confused as to where they came from. Together with the other children, they formed Infinity Inc.! Forming close ties, she spent most of her early superhero career with them while living in LA and starting her acting career. Unfortunately, as it goes, the team slowly fell apart as tragedy after tragedy struck, and they all went their separate ways.



Jenny stuck around LA for a while, bouncing between some jobs, she eventually packed up and heading to New York. With a little persuading, she found her way into Kyle Rayner’s home and life, making herself comfortable. Oh, just dealing with the every day stuff, getting into modeling, having a dorky roommate, fighting an sentient center of chaotic magic for the life of your father, brother, and roommate you may want to date, losing your powers, becoming Green Lantern. Jenny was the first Green Lantern Lady of Earth, and very proud of it. Of course, she got back her natural powers eventually, they just ‘fit’ better, and after a falling out with Kyle, she moved on. To the Outsiders. Which she also ran for a time. Before dying. Of course, her death and return wasn’t lauded as much as much as Superman’s, but she did come back fantastically as a White Lantern, and continued her career as Jade on the JLA as their resident will power user, and just, you know, defeated the Starheart (that chaotic magical entity, you know, from earlier) yet again. No big deal. Just the not so normal life of Jen Hayden, and damn she loves everything her life became.



What can she do? Jenny is a natural will-power based life form! She’s magical in nature, and can create light constructs of green energy of anything she can imagine. And, as she is a life form of willpower, she doesn’t need to recharge in any way! Sure she gets tired, but she keeps on trucking! She also inherited control over plant life from her mother, the original Thorn, and can even photosynthesize. Later in life, she absorbed the darker half of the Starheart’s magic, controlling the more chaotic half and turning her flame black.



Jen’s also has the amazing ability of being flat out mean. Jennie-Lynn is without apology, herself and she will express it as bluntly as possible. She’s not down for this coy shit, and if she doesn’t like how you’re treating her, or doesn’t like how things are going, she’ll damn well let you know and do what she wants. She’s flawed in this way, in that sometimes she ends up hurting those she loves, but she’s not without heart to apologize to them. She cares and loves those she holds dear— she’s just a very bold and brash and doesn’t care to be polite to hide it.

Jade -- Final Thoughts


One of the many battles -- that I've find to be noteworthy and a tragic one is when Kyle and Jade were fighting and Jade was a Black Lantern at the time and was broken up by Soranik Natu pictured below.





Soranik Natu that recharged Jade's ring -- and the Black Lanterns had a directive to deplete the Oa's Central Power Battery. Mogo caused all of the Black Lanterns, including Jade, to be pulled down to the planet Oa and absorbed into its core. There, super-hot magma continually burned up the Black Lanterns preventing them regenerating their forms of which made me feel very sad about it and Jade as a Black Lantern was no more.


Later on, in the Blackest Night -- Jade was resurrected and some of the other Black Lanterns and was happy and Kyle and Jade resume their relationship and surprising twist of fate -- Deadman is now a White Lantern and that's really a huge moment and that's changes everything about Deadman and that's why I find the Blackest Night one of Jade most memorable moment in her life.


Then, she tried to reconnect her Father -- Alan Scott 


Jade joined with the JLA and JSA in order to stop metahumans who were under the control of the Starheart. At the same time, Mr. Terrific searched for a way to weaken the Starheart's power. Jade used her father's old lantern to make a brief connection with her father. The insignia of the Black Lantern Corps was briefly shown, floating behind her and that startled her -- if my memory serves me correct.


When Jade went to stop her father, she found Kyle. He had been sent by the Guardians of the Universe to kill her father you can find that story in Justice League of America - Volume 2 #47. July 2010.


That's a great story and that's was a challenging one for Jade to endure.


Jade (in reality) is a meta-human. She was born with green-hued skin, dark green hair, green eyes and a star-shaped birthmark on her palm. Her skin contains chlorophyll (the source of its green hue), and she can photosynthesize sunlight as a plant does. Due to their shared mystical connection with the Starheart, Jade can sense where her twin brother and her father are.


She once shared a telepathic connection with her brother Obsidian and that's a neat way to communicate to him.

John Stewart was featured as one of the lead characters on the television cartoon Justice League from 2001 until 2004. He continued to appear as a major character on the show's 2004–2006 sequel, Justice League Unlimited. Of which, I believe is when I started to like more and more of John as Green Lantern trying his hardest to keep the team together and give Flash better stability and growth of which he did not accept most of the time. That's when I started disliking the Flash.


In 2011, John Stewart starred in the New 52 relaunch of Green Lantern Corps alongside Guy Gardner, and became the sole lead character of the title from 2013 until the series' conclusion in 2015. John was very prominent during the New 52.


Green Lantern Corps was replaced by Green Lantern: The Lost Army, which also stars John Stewart as the lead.





I didn't think it was that good of a series and I just had a hard time enjoying it.


For some time, Stewart occasionally filled in as Green Lantern when Jordan was unavailable, including some missions of the Justice League; of which he did quite good when he did fill in; and I was very surprised by that.


After Jordan gave up being Green Lantern in the 1980s, the Guardians selected Stewart for full-time duty. Stewart filled that role for some years. During that period he worked as an architect at Ferris Aircraft Company, battled many Green Lantern villains, and fought against the Anti-Monitor's forces during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. John was trained in usage of his power ring by Katma Tui, the Green Lantern of the planet Korugar. The duo went on many adventures together and eventually fell in love. Kat and John went on to serve within the Green Lantern Corps of Earth alongside Hal Jordan, Arisia, Kilowog, Salaak, and other alien Green Lanterns, during which time they were married.
