According to his Wikipedia page, quoting X-Men #10 (which I haven't read), Ka-Zar's name is pronounced "Kay-sar".
Is that how you pronounce it? I always said "Kah-Zar" (with a Z and not dZ).

I've always read it as Kay-Czar. Similar to Tarzan. And the cat is Zah-boo, isn't it?

That's interesting. I've never heard it pronounced that way. Always been "KAH-ZAR" in my mind too.

I read it as kah-zar' when I was a kid, but I did read in some letters page back then that it was supposed to be pronounced kay'-zar. Never could get myself to hear that mentally when I read the comics, though.
Zabu I always heard with a sort of equal emphasis on both syllables.

While we're at it, has anyone read the Guns of the Savage Land OGN by Tim Truman and Chuck Dixon? I've been a big Truman kick lately, and I saw a cheap copy on Amazon Marketplace.

Say, I never made the link between Ka-Zar and Kaiser! Very good point, fanboystranger! I didn't read the graphic novel in question, but as I remember the way it was pitched, it dealt with Ka-Zar in a deconstructionist way: back in England, moping in his castle without Shanna, and I'm not sure the Savage Land even existed still. It might be an interesting story, but I'm not a big fan of this burned earth soft reboot. |

Yup, X-Men #10 says "pronounced KAY-sar" right on the splash page. I've pronounced it that way ever since first reading a hand-me-down copy circa '67. If you can't take Stan and Jack's word for it, you're no true believer, frantic one!

For me, "Ka-Zar" is pronounced "Kuh-ZAR." Almost like "Czar," in fact.
