Yup, X-Men #10 says "pronounced KAY-sar" right on the splash page. I've pronounced it that way ever since first reading a hand-me-down copy circa '67. If you can't take Stan and Jack's word for it, you're no true believer, franctic one! Cei-U! I summon the excelsior! That's the problem, maybe. I first encountered the character, I'm pretty sure, in Marvel Super-Heroes #19, which AFAIK didn't include a pronouncer.

I always pronounced Magneto as Mag- net- o . Instead of Mag- neat-o. Same. Is there a reason they decided to go with the latter? Not Brand Echh #4 includes the masterpiece "If Magneat-O Should Clobber Us!" NBE, needless to say, trumps all other references in working out any & all details of the MU.

I'm glad I learn random facts on the forum. And here I thought Dan was the only indispensable fountain of knowledge.

OT: Some that really threw me were the names of the creative people themselves. Sienkiewicz baffled me. I pronounced it SANK-uh-witz for the longest time. It's properly pronounced sin-KEV-itch.

Is that how your people spell "erudition"? How quaint.

What about Mysterio?
Mystery- Oh?
Mr. Yo?
My Stereo?
It must be fun to purposefully mispronounce a character's name just to drive fans mad! (Especially if many do it in the same conversation)!

I say "Mis-TEER-ee-o"
And I say "Kuh-ZAR" and "Zah-BU"
And "Mag-NET-o"
When I was a kid, I said "Sub-muh-REEN-er" because I wasn't familiar with the word "mariner." But my out-of-state cousins who had access to the reruns of the Marvel Super-Heroes cartoon show said it was pronounced Sub-MAR-in-er on the show and I was able to change my pronunciation because it made sense.
I get kind of annoyed when I hear Kamandi as "Kuh-MUN-dee." It's Kah-MAN-dee." Because he's from "Command D." Duh.

I've always read it as Kay-Czar. Similar to Tarzan. And the cat is Zah-boo, isn't it? That's basically my take. The exciting thing about all these movies is learning how wrong I have been about pronouncing everything.

Not sure how/why I ended up typing "muh", but I pronounce Mysterio basically the same as Hoosier X.

Mysterio never posed a problem for me: I just assumed it was pronounced like the English word "mysterious", except for the last syllable.
I always liked Mysterio's name and his whole look with the blank globe or whatever it was. But IIRC, the character himself was a bit lame - just a disgruntled stage magician or something, wasn't he? With that look and that name, I always felt he should have been more formidable, with some "real" supernatural powers, not just stage illusions.
