I'm just happy we get to see Affleck and Leto together.
It would be really sad if the two of them had never really got to have any screen time together.

Why does it have to be light? It does not. Ironically, some forget that many of the superhero genre's most celebrated issues were dark, where heroes were truly challenged, and there's no room for endless, mood-killing quips (e.g., so much of the MCU).

Speaking only for myself, I haven't "forgotten" about it, but I am tired of the last 20 years of dark DC movies. Also those issues were dark, but they were also good, so...

Here's the think about darkness... you have to see a bit of the light, so you know what the heroes are fighting for... or at the end, to show they triumphed. Perhaps that's in there, but I agree that trailer is just morbid. My comic book store guy is super excited about it, and was telling me how great it all looked, but all I see is darkness.
Superheroes are just not that serious.

^ Well, some of the celebrated arcs in comics history have been incredibly dark (e.g. ASM #121-122, Dark Phoenix arc, A Death in the Family, COIE, many an early 70s Batman and Green Lantern, etc.). Like real life, heroes fighting the good fight does not always guarantee a bright spot or even a semi-happy ending. Part of the problem with comics of old is that conflicts do not feel like conflicts when you know how it will always end up--no consequences.

Meh
Treating spandex-clad aliens who fly around and shoot laser beams out of their eyes as super serious business is infinitely goofier than just embracing the inherent silliness of it all.
Frankly, I’m tired of superhero movies altogether at this point. DC, Marvel...whatever.
It’s been nearly 15 years of this stuff at a constant, break neck pace.

Well, today's the day. I'm not optimistic, but I must admit I'm waiting on baited breath to hear reactions.

Gail Simone loves the Snyder JL (see her Tweets on the film), while Variety cannot praise the film enough. Enjoyment of the true version of JL is by no means limited to the sources listed.

I've seen plenty of critical advance reviews too. I want to hear the opinions of people whose tastes in the source materials (and in things in general) I know and respect.

If I ever see it I have to wait for a DVD release. I refuse to subscribe to yet another streaming service.

I'll probably sign up for the shortest possible interval to watch it and a few movies for a month. I don't have super high hopes for enjoying it as a Justice League movie, but the situation itself is fascinating. It's not often we get to see an almost entirely different version of the same movie.

Mostly because I can't get all the broadcast channels with an antenna. So I have the cheapest package and Netflix and Disney +.
