So this is a gallery belonging to... How tough is it to notice a misplaced apostrophe? I wonder which one of those villains was evil enough to put that apostrophe in the wrong place. Probably Kull! He is very bad!

Ivy also turned up in the Secret Origins of Super-Villains Limited collector's Edition, in a center spread pin-up, of a group of villains, but doesn't appear in any stories. The villains depicted are primarily Flash and Batman enemies and there are other villains not seen in stories within the collection. The Flash has the greatest representation, with Batman second, followed by Captain Marvel and Superman lagging behind even The Big Red Cheese. We had a discussion somewhere on this forum that Superman in the 70s didn't have a real "rogue gallery". I have to find it! Found it! The pre-Crisis Superman didn't have a memorable "rogue gallery". This was the most similar thing in the 1977: If I were Luthor or Brainiac I would feel embarrassed being in the same room with Toyman. And When you have to put The Prankster and Amalak (that I hadn't the faintest idea who he was, I had to Google it) between the "9 deadliest Superman foes" you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

But Terra-Man immediately bumps the cool factor of any group he joins. and i will brook no argument on this.

If I were Luthor or Brainiac I would feel embarrassed being in the same room with Toyman. Yep, he's evidently embarrassed 😁 Seriously(?), being the boss and considering Toyman your lackey is different from putting him on the same level as you.

Seriously(?), being the boss and considering Toyman your lackey is different from putting him on the same level as you. There's this famous line from the animated GI Joe movie in the 80's where Serpentor tells Cobra Commander, "Do as you're told like an obedient lackey!". I can just imagine Lex saying that same line to say Brainaic, Grodd, or Black Manta and watching the reaction lol.

And I mean, usually their respective goals (except the elimination of their respective superhero enemies) are mutually exclusive. It's difficult to agree on something when everyone wants to conquer the world. The future of "Old Man Logan" comes to mind. The villains, once they eliminated all the heroes, made the United States a wasteland due to the fighting among themselves.

I want a version where Lex is like, look, we need to set our sights a little more realistic here. I can't guarantee the "world", but I am offering competitive compenstion with a full benefits package including health insurance, a true employer contribution pension, a tuition reimbursement plan, and onsite day care. I've also recently bought a Keurig for the kitchen area.

And When you have to put The Prankster and Amalak (that I hadn't the faintest idea who he was, I had to Google it) between the "9 deadliest Superman foes" you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Though I would never describe The Prankster as deadly, I do like the character a lot. Sure, Doomsday punching his way through Metropolis is a job for Superman, but I wouldn't expect anything more than a 22 page punching contest from such a comic. The Prankster copywriting the English language though? I love the "I haven't done anything you can punch me for or arrest me for, but I have done something you can't ignore either" approach of the character. He's a very outside the box challenge for Superman when used properly. Although I can't say that that issue of Superman posted above really jumps out at me, I will say out of fairness that it's hardly indicative of the quality of rogu'es Superman had pre-Crisis. Switch out Amalak with Metallo (who hadn't been revived since his first appearance way back in 1959 at this point, but theoretically could have been), Toyman with Bizarro, Prankster with Titano, and Terra-Man with Jax-Ur and I think you'd have to admit that you've got some formidable villainy on hand there. In fact, I believe that shortly after this issue was released, Martin Pasko started brining back a lot of those villains during his run.
