Ever since I relinquished the majority of my responsibilities to the CCF, I've had time to do weekly review threads again (sometimes more frequently than that), and I am trying to decide how to balance my focus for the new year. Now granted, I may end up ignoring the feedback I get entirely, but I also may not Here are the review threads I currently have running: Batman #300 and UpSuperman in the Post-Crisis EraDoug Moench from the BeginningHere are the review threads I've largely been ignoring: Nick Fury in the Silver AgeMaster of Kung Fu from the Beginning (this is on hold until it begins overlapping with my Doug Moench thread next year) I'm also seriously considering beginning a Justice League in the Post Crisis Era review thread, but this would necessarily take some time away from the threads I am already maintaining, so I'd like your thoughts. Which review threads would you like to see me focus on?

Selfishly, I voted for MOKF, only because I have the series and could read along with you on it.
That said, I would strongly advocate that you do the one(s) you're most interested in on a personal level. This should be fun, not a chore or "homework", and if you aren't fully into one of them, it will not only show in your writing but it may also drag down your feelings about the whole act of reviewing books, even for things you are passionate about.

I'm definitely into most of them. Nick Fury's been a drag, but I know it gets better a few issues down the road once Roy Thomas is gone. Master of Kung Fu wasn't wowing me, but that's only because Moench and Gulacy hadn't hit their stride yet. Really, any review thread I started, I started because I was reasonably sure I would enjoy it. Sound advice, though. Thanks for it

I'm in favor of the JUSTICE LEAGUE and if this NEW Thread gets voted down in a democratic way, I prefer the BATMAN thread to be your focus on. That's my 2 cents worth.

I knew you'd be in favor of the Justice League option. Just keep in mind this is the Giffen/Dematteis incarnation we're talking about. And if it gets even five votes, I'm taking that as a sign that there's interest.

That's my only weak area and I would be very interested in that ERA. I don't read JLA anymore and I stopped about a little more than 2 years ago. I'm shifting to other areas and the 12 days of Classic Comics Christmas gave me a bucket load of ideas and I'm writing down the creator names and their work on a daily basis. I'm overwhelmed of the sheer knowledge that all members here and that's section that Cei-U created in the first place gets a healthy dose of visits and I just eating it up every single day. Your Batman thread is the thread that I often visit about 2-3 times a week and I don't contribute that much but enjoying it very much.

Agent reviews. They weren't getting much of a response, plus the quality was really going South, and those double length issues with five stories in them are an absolute pain to keep track of for the sake of reviews. I have not abandoned those reviews, but they are a lot of work with (at the moment) less of a pay-off, so I plan to space them out unless/until the quality improves.

I really really love the "Batman from #300 up" thread and I was just about to vote for that. But then I realized that a "Post-Crisis JLA" thread would mean starting with "Justice League Detroit"!
(I hope!)
I love Justice League Detroit! I can't argue with any of the criticisms directed at it. But I love it anyway. I especially love the art on the first year or so and there's a three-part Amazo story (with art by George Tuska of all people!) that is one my favorite non-JSA Justice League stories. It was my first long-term exposure to J'onn J'onzz, Zatanna and the Dibnys, and the new characters (Vixen, Gypsy, Steel and Vibe) grew on me as the series progressed.
Nothing in comics makes me more sad than the last four issues of Justice League of America, which I call the JLD Massacre. One of the reasons I don't read the whole JLD run more often is because I just can't take the way it ended.
(I almost deleted this post because, as I was typing the previous sentence, I realized that "Post-Crisis Justice League" more likely means starting with the first issue of the "Bwa-ha-ha" era of the League, of which I'm not particularly fond. But I'm going to leave this comment in the hopes that shaxper will consider starting with the JLD era.)

I read the first two trades years ago, loved them, and have always meant to go back and read more carefully. But I am not knowledgeable enough on the subject to know whether that's the Justice League you are looking for or not. Help me out here

Nevermind. I keep forgetting we live in the information age. I looked it up Well, I wasn't planning on covering Justice League: Detroit. I guess my question is this -- yeah, it happened after the Crisis, but does it actually count as Post-Crisis?

This is the cover to Justice League #1, with the wonderful Terry Austin/Kevin Maguire art. This is the start of what I called "the bwa-ha-ha era of the League." I read it sporadically, mostly because I liked the art. But I never really warmed to the writing. I didn't have any objection to the humorous tone of the series, per se. I just didn't think it was nearly as clever as it thought it was. (And I know that a lot of people - A LOT! - will disagree with me on the DeMatteis/Giffen/Maguire Justice League.) (And I want to add that I loved DeMatties on The Defenders.) And when I say "Justice League Detroit," I'm referring to this loveable band of misfit toys: (Those b*****ds! They made Gypsy cry!)

Just to complicate things for you - I'd enjoy the heck out of a JLDetroit thread. Bwaa-ha-ha . . . meh. But I read and enjoy all your review threads (except for Batman, but I'm just sick of the character these days).
That said, I voted for the Moench thread. A) I like his work. B) I like the idea of a thread following one creator's development rather than a character or series. and C) I'm just impressed you own so much of the guy's work.

So, circa 1987, does anyone in the DCU recall the JLD? Did that still happen, because I don't think anything else that occurred in the DCU prior to 1986 did. In the Giffen/Dematteis run, is that the first Justice League team ever assembled, and, if not, is the JLD acknowledged as having come before it?
I do review threads for the fun, but continuity is a big part of them as well. if Giffen/Dematteis aren't the start of the Justice League continuity, then I definitely don't want to start there. But I also suspect reading the JLD would require not understanding a heck of a lot of references to past Pre-Crisis continuity that I wouldn't understand either.
